Program Settings

Q: Can I use a touch screen or single switch device with the Sterling software?

A: Yes. From the Main Menu, click on the Program Settings icon. In the upper right hand corner of the Program Settings screen, you will see a list of drop-down menu selections. Under Interface, if you select Direct Select, you can use a touch screen with the lesson. The mouse is still active when using a touch screen and can also be used to make selections. Scanning allows you to use a single switch, mouse click, space bar or the enter key as a selection device. Please refer to your manual for more information on Scan Method, Scans per Item, Scan Delay, Audible Scan and User Initiates Scan.

Q: I’m using a touch screen and the mouse cursor is getting in the way. Can I hide the mouse cursor during lessons?

A: Yes. Click on the Program Settings icon. In the lower right corner of the Program Settings screen, you will see a check box for hiding the mouse cursor. Simply check this box and the mouse cursor will not appear during the lesson.

Q: Can I shut off the intro animations?

A: Yes. Click on the Program Settings icon. In the top center of the Program Settings screen, you will see a drop-down menu for Animated Intros. Set it to "off" to discontinue the animated intros. This setting is student-specific and will need to be considered for each individual.
